Schumer declares no more Democrat amendments to health care reform

Senator Chuck Schumer says after a day of debate on a budget reconciliation vehicle for healthcare repeal and replacement that both a repeal and a replacement having failed, no final bill than before the Senate, Democrats would offer no further amendments to the pending legislation. Schumer says Republicans assail high insurance premiums, but if reporting is accurate and legislation referred to as a skinny repeal is the plan, premiums would increase far higher, that if there is some secret legislation to come, there had not been a robust amendment process, and Democrats do not know what bill to target amendments to in the one-sided and broken process, that the bill ought to be seen first and soon in broad daylight, not at the 11th hour.
