Studios in smaller towns around Indian bordering villages in Murshidabad district in West Bengal are now doing good business photographing cattle- mostly cows- and their owners. The photo of the animal and its owner is to be affixed on the Cattle ID Card of the cow. "It is a big hassle to photograph the animals inside a studio because they often react to flashguns frighteningly. The other day one cow jumped in fear at the light of the flashgun. After almost each shooting I need to clean the studio floor of cow dung and urine," said Pintu Mandal, a photographer in border town of Jalangi, who is getting at least 20 cattle photo assignments a day right now.
