A man looks through a window broken by stones hurled during a protest outside the offices of Turkish Cypriot weekly newspaper "Afrika Gazetesi", in the northern part of Nicosia in the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) only recognized by Turkey, on January 22, 2018, after it slammed Ankara's operation in northern Syria's Afrin enclave as an "occupation". Afrika Gazetesi, opposed to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, wrote on its front page "One more occupation from Turkey", referring to the 1974 Turkish invasion of northern Cyprus.
