MINNEAPOLIS, MN. - APRIL 1952: Frederick McKinley Jones, chief engineer for the United States Thermo Control Company, photographed April 1952, by Minneapolis Star photographer William Seaman. Jones, an inventor with 61 patents, including several for early refrigerated trucks, also invented a movie theater ticket dispenser and portable X-ray machine. Born near Cincinnati, Jones spent 20 years in Hallock, Minn., before moving to Minneapolis to help launch Thermo King into a $30 million-a-year company.
