Shanghai, CHINA: Duje Draganja from Croatia celebrates with his gold medal after winning the Men's 50 metre freestyle final in a time of 21.38 during the 8th FINA World Short Course Swimming Championships, held at the Qi Zhong stadium in Shanghai, 07 April 2006. Swimming chiefs have brushed off concerns about the poor turn-out by big names with Michael Phelps, Ian Thorpe, Grant Hackett, Aaron Piersol and Pieter van den Hoogenband all staying away. The championships - using a 25-metre pool instead of the usual 50 metres - have attracted athletes from a record 117 countries.
